Law 5239/2025: what applies to your business
Article 39 of Law 5239/2025 adds to the Greek Labour Code an obligation to train employees in CPR and the Heimlich manoeuvre.
In force from 1 January 2026
Employers train their employees in CPR and the Heimlich manoeuvre under Article 39.
The threshold counts per site
The 50-employee threshold applies per installation, not per company.
More than 50 employees
At least 50% of staff are trained by certified first aid providers, every 3 years.
Up to 50 employees
Training is delivered through the Ministry of Labour training videos and material.
An AED is not an Article 39 obligation. We recommend one because it makes CPR effective.
